Download Linux now

Most Linux installations begin with a download of an .iso image, suitable for burning to a CD (or DVD, for non-net installs). This requires you to already have a working operating system of some sort with a CD/DVD burner and blank media.

Some distribution sources (such as Ubuntu) will mail you a free CD to get started. Unfortunately, that may take up to 10 weeks for delivery, so most users skip this option. If you'd prefer a full set of installation disks (CD or DVD), we can provide them for any listed distribution for a small fee. We'll even send them overnight, if needed. If you'd prefer this option, click here (Coming Soon!)

Which distribution should you get? Some are general-purpose, some are multimedia desktop and others are server distributions. A great comparison of versions is found at our good friend, Wikipedia. Still not sure which distibution to choose? We use Ubuntu and Debian for our desktop systems and servers at GoToLinux.com. We find the apt-get/dpkg system of package maintenance is excellent, easy to use and prefer it to other distributions' methods. Of course, your needs may differ.
